A Rochester man has been sentenced to a little over four years in prison for convictions stemming from a sexual assault in May 2010 and an assault that occurred in August 2011.

30-year-old Joshua Brand entered into a plea agreement in April and admitted to felony assault and simple robbery charges to settle both cases. In exchange, prosecutors dropped first and third-degree criminal sexual conduct, auto theft and another felony assault count.

In the rape case, Brand was accused of forcing his way into an Oronoco woman’s apartment and sexually assaulting her. The criminal complaint say he then took the woman with him in her car and drove into downtown Rochester, where he left the woman and she was able to call 911.

Police caught up with Brand a short time later after he was involved in a traffic crash and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
