24-year-old Divaunte Kartrell Young has been convicted of illegally possessing a firearm as a felon, the news release says.
Evidence presented during the federal trial accused him of forcing an acquaintance at gunpoint to give him a ride to the Twin Cities after the victim initially refused to drive him in March of 2023.

Young and the woman arrived at a gas station and the woman went into the bathroom where she contacted a friend then called 911.
Law enforcement responded to the store and found Young sleeping in the victim’s vehicle.
A subsequent search led to the discovery of a handgun that had Young’s DNA on it, the news release indicates.
Following his arrest, Young was recorded on a jail phone line contacting the victim and attempting to block her from testifying against him, federal prosecutors say.
Court records indicate Young has prior felony convictions for domestic assault, aggravated robbery, burglary, and fourth degree assault.
His sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
