Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The Rochester School Board will officially certify the school district’s 2015 enrollment on Tuesday at 17,455 students.

That is just over 300 above the enrollment figure that was certified last October and is around 280 above the level predicted in the district’s most recent enrollment projection. The headcount of students shows enrollment was higher than anticipated in the elementary and high schools, but was lower than expected at the middle school level.

More students also means more state funding. The school district estimates it will receive an additional $1.8 million through the per-pupil funding formula.

The district has seen enrollment exceed the projections the past couple years and Superintendent Michael Munoz says some modifications to the school attendance boundaries might have to be considered if the trend continues.
