Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School Board was presented with an updated enrollment projection report Tuesday evening.

It shows the Rochester Public Schools should continue to see steady enrollment growth, with the student headcount rising from the current 17,646 to more than 18,500 students by the fall of 2021. The report projects enrollment this fall will be up about 240 students at just under 17,890, while the student headcount is forecast the top 18,000 for the first time in the fall of 2018.

Elementary school enrollment, which is risen by nearly 450 students over the last four years, is now predicted to be fairly steady during the next 5 to 10 years. Middle school enrollment is predicted to grow by about 250 students during the next five years, while high school enrollment is forecast to rise by more than 640 students during that time span.

The report projects middle school enrollment will decline slightly after five years, but high school enrollment is projected to continue climbing through 2025.
