Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who admitted to a felony theft charge in connection with a shoplifting case that created quite a scene at Apache Mall in February has been sentenced.

45-year-old Mario Peterson was arrested after a security officer at the mall recognized him as a man who was suspected of shoplifting some expensive purses during an earlier visit to Macy’s. The security officer witnessed some more suspected shoplifting activity and called 911.

Rochester police say Peterson was involved in a struggle with security officers outside of the store and then ran through the mall with the officers in pursuit.He was finally subdued by a police officer using a Taser.

Peterson was on probation for previous theft convictions at the time. He has been placed on probation for another 5 years.
