Rochester Stabbing Suspect Convicted of Murder

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A teenager charged in connection with a triple stabbing in Rochester a couple years ago has been convicted of second-degree murder in the Twin Cities.

A Hennepin County jury deliberated for about five hours before returning the guilty verdict against 19-year-old Ahmed Abdirahman Abdi. He is scheduled to be sentenced September 23rd.

He was 17-years-old when he shot 21-year-old Ayan Abdulahi while she was lying on a bed at Abdi’s home in Minneapolis in April of last year. He was later arrested in Kansas City Missouri.

He is also charged with threatening a man with a gun the night before the murder and has yet to stand trial in that case. The criminal case against Abdi in Olmsted County is also pending. He was charged with two counts of felony assault for his alleged involvement in the stabbings of three men at an apartment complex near the Rochester Community and Technical College Campus in May 2014.
