Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Thanks to Wednesday’s frigid temperatures a Rochester weather streak has come to an end.
The National Weather Service says the temperature at the Rochester International Airport fell below zero early Wednesday for the first time since Feb. 20th.
The NWS says the stretch of 311 days between the two dates is the 8th longest based on current records. The longest streak is 343 days, set in 2012.
This was also the 9th latest date the city has recorded a subzero temperature. The unofficial low temperature at RST Wednesday was -9 around 7:30 am.
Temperatures are expected to drop below zero again during the New Year’s weekend, including a low that could fall to nearly -15 Sunday morning.
Somewhat warmer weather should return Monday.
