Rochester Woman May Have Froze to Death
It appears an elderly Rochester woman died after wandering away from her home last night. Police were notified around 8 this morning by the family of 91 year old Marie Schinke. It’s believed she left home on foot sometime after 5 p.m. yesterday without a coat. Her home is in the 1200 block of 9th avenue southeast.
Schinke’s body was found around 11 this morning in the rear yard of a residence in the 1000 block of 13 ½ street, across the street from Mayo High School and only about a block from her home.
An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death. Police Captain John Sherwin says foul play is not suspected. He says the family told investigators Shinke had wandered away from home a few nights ago.
