Rochester Man Appearing on National TV This Week
A familiar face here in southeast Minnesota will be appearing again on national TV again this week.
Rochester's own Roo Yori is, of course, famous in these parts-- and across the country-- for competing as the K-9 Ninja on NBC's monster hit show, American Ninja Warrior. Since he first burst onto the ANW scene six years ago, he's been both competing on the show, as well as raising money for his own foundation that helps find forever homes for deserving dogs.
If you're not familiar, Roo calls himself the 'K9 Ninja' because, as his Pledge It page says, he competes 'to raise money and awareness for homeless dogs to help them get adopted.' And Roo, of course, has already raised a lot of money to help homeless dogs through his amazing Wallace The Pitbull Foundation. In fact, Roo noted that last year, in 2021, a whopping $17K was raised for dogs in need.
And again this year, Roo is set to raise even MORE money for homeless dogs in need, by soliciting donations from dog-lovers and fans based on how many of the 10 ANW obstacles he successfully conquers each time he's on the show. He crushed the course during his qualifying run back in June, and has so far raised over $22,175. Now, he'll be making an appearance on Monday night's semi-finals (fingers crossed he makes it to the finals in Vegas!)
If you'd like to donate to Roo's cause, you can get more information HERE. And be sure to check out Roo on American Ninja Warrior, which airs Monday night (August 1st) from 7 to 9 pm. Plus, the episode will be broadcast again on Friday night (August 5th) from 7 to 9 pm on NBC (KTTC here in Rochester.)
Roo was nice enough to drop by our studios a few years ago to chat about what it's like being on the show-- check out the video below. And, go get, 'em Roo! We'll be watching, and cheering on, not only one of the best Ninjas out there but one of the nicest guys, as well!
