BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) — The parents of a 5-year-old boy want some answers from the Brooklyn Center School District after their son could not be found after school.

The child, Omari Palmer, was eventually found asleep on a school bus after his first day of kindergarten on Tuesday.

Melissa Rittinger tells KMSP-TV that it's "the most horrifying feeling in the world" when you don't know where your child is.

Emmanuel Palmer went to his son's school when the boy failed to get off the bus. The driver said the boy wasn't on the bus.

Rittinger says someone at school told her Omari had gotten off at a different stop, so Palmer searched the block.

An hour and a-half later, Omari's parents learned he had been on the bus the whole time. School district spokeswoman Nan Yurecko says the incident is under investigation.
