RPU Water Rate Hike Approved

The Rochester Public Utilities Board has approved a 3.5-percent increase in water rates.

The rate hike was included in the RPU budget for next year, which also includes revenues generated from a 3.5-percent electric rate increase that was approved earlier this year. Officials estimate the water rate increase will add about 40-cents a month to the average residential customer’s bill.

If it is approved by the Rochester City Council, The rate increase will take effect January 1st.
