Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Seasonal factors pushed the unemployment rate in the Rochester area higher in January.

The latest data released by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County rose 8-tenths of a point from December to 3.4-percent in the first month of this year. The rate from January 2015 was 3.7-percent.

Every county in southeastern Minnesota experienced an increase in unemployment in January. Olmsted County continued to enjoy the lowest jobless rate, while the highest rate was found in Houston County at 5.7-percent. Houston County also saw the largest increase at 1.7 points.
