See What’s On The Opposite Side Of The World From Rochester
Do you remember that old expression about "digging a hole to China"? I forget where it came from (most likely from a random cartoon), but I recall being a little kid and thinking that it would be cool to visit China turning my backyard into an excavation site with a shovel. My dad was not impressed. I still have never visited China.
But as it turns out, you can't dig a hole to China. How do I know that? Other than my failed attempt as a 7-year-old child? Over the weekend, I stumbled across a cool website with an interactive Antipodes Map. Basically, it can show the point on the Earth's surface that is diametrically opposite to it.
So what's on the opposite side of the world from Rochester? I'll give you a few hints:
1. It's not China.
2. It's wet.
3. You probably don't want to vacation there, but it's pretty close to a place where you'd like to vacation.
You can check it out here. Just type in your zip code and see what happens!
