Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Police Department will soon lose one of its longtime leaders.

Capt. John Sherwin has been selected as the next police chief in Faribault.

Sherwin was one of three finalists for the job and was selected by the city council last Wednesday.

The 48-year-old Sherwin has been with RPD since 2001 and was promoted to captain in 2011. Sherwin served as interim chief for a few months after the retirement of Roger Peterson in April 2018.
