SHOCKING! Chocolate Isn’t In Any of Minnesota’s 3 Favorite Candies
The National Retail Federation says all signs point toward Americans spending more and going all out to make Halloween 2021 bigger and better than ever. The NRF says "average consumers plan to spend $102.74 on costumes, candy, decorations, and greeting cards — $10 more than they planned to spend last year." A record $3-billion is expected to be spent on candy this year.
So what is our favorite candy? America's favorite is Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, but when you go state by state you will find some parts of the country prefer different candies. Believe it or not, those amazingly delicious peanut butter cups didn't make the top 3 for Minnesota.
Each year, candystore.com updates its rankings, which are based on sales data, and unveils the most popular candy in each state.
America's Favorite Halloween Candies:
- Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
- Skittles
- M&M's
- Starburst
- Hot Tamales
- Sour Patch Kids
- Hershey Kisses
- Snickers
- Tootsie Pops
- Candy Corn
Minnesota's Top 3 Favorite Candies:
They say the most popular candy in Minnesota is Tootsie Pops. Skittles came in at number 2 after being the top candy in 2020, and Hot Tamales is the third most popular candy. Those candies are fine, but I can't believe some sort of chocolate isn't in Minnesota's top 3.

FYI, the director of the CDC was just asked about Halloween this year. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control, was on the CBS show "Face the Nation" and was asked if kids are safe to go trick-or-treating this year. She said, "If you’re able to be outdoors, absolutely.”
