We have a horrible habit in Minnesota. Here's what I see - people everywhere, including Minnesotans, do a horrible job answering the question, "How are you?". In fact, I can almost guarantee that the last time you answered that question, you said: "fine".
We have built up this weird norm that you need to be perfect and "fine" all of the time but we are humans. Sometimes, we are going through some horrible things in life and the struggle is more than real. The struggle at times is overwhelming. It might be hard to communicate that because being "fine" is what everyone seems to say. If you aren't "fine" though, it is ok to let people know.
If you know someone who struggles with mental health, or you yourself have days when the anxiety takes over or depression kicks in, you aren't alone. And one organization in Southeast Minnesota is here with resources and to help.
