Some Fans Will Be In Attendance For Gopher Football Games
Heading into this year there was a lot of excitement around the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher team. After finishing last year with a dominate bowl-game win and an 11-2 record fans were excited to pack TCF Bank Stadium this fall... Then the pandemic happened and ruined everything in 2020.
Less than 2-weeks away from the start of the Big Ten's shortened fall season we're learning that fans will be allowed in the stadium to cheer on the team. The latest guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health says 1,500 fans can attend each home game, but the University will limit attendance to 800 for each contest.
Unfortunately, the general public won't have the option of going to a game according to WCCO: "Players from both teams will each have four tickets to share with their family or special guests. They will be spread out in “pods” throughout the stadium, and will be required to wear masks.
The Gophers are offering cardboard cutouts for anyone that wants to support the team this fall. Gopherspots.com says, "Fan Cutouts are available now for $50 for general fans and $25 for current University of Minnesota students. For a one-time fee, the personalized Gopher Fan Cutouts will be featured in the stands for the duration of the 2020 Gopher Football season.
The Gophers kick off their season at home with an AP Top 25 matchup against the Michigan Wolverines on October 24th. Each game this season can be heard on News Talk 1340 KROC-AM and 96.9 FM.
