Albert Lea isn't having a very good month. First, it was the active shooter situation last Sunday, then it was the large fire on Friday, now a local Catholic Church has had it's most sacred item stolen from it. St. Theodore's Catholic Church had its tabernacle stolen recently and the Albert Lea Police are asking people to keep an eye out for it.

In Catholic teachings, the tabernacle is one of the most sacred and holiest of items. The tabernacle is where the eucharist is held, and is often fixed to a stand and often made from or features precious metals and or jewels.

The missing tabernacle from a small chapel at St. Theodores is quite heavy according to the Albert Lea Police post to social media, and it's more than likely it is still in the Albert Lea area.

The theft happened at a very important time for the church as they entered into Advent last week, which is when the church begins the 4 week wait until Jesus was born on Christmas day.

It is unclear if services will continue to be held at the church, or if worship services will move to another church until the tabernacle can be replaced or is returned.
