State Fire Marshal Investigates Boy Scout Cabin Blaze in Minnesota
On Friday night, September 13th, just before 7 PM, a passerby noticed a fire, which prompted a response from several agencies.
The concerned passerby spotted flames engulfing a cabin on Taft Road in Fredenberg Township, just north of Duluth. Quick to respond, the Fredenberg Fire Department and St. Louis County Deputies rushed to the scene, upon arrival, firefighters discovered that both a cabin and a shed were ablaze.

No Injuries Reported
Authorities quickly determined that it was a Boy Scout camp and that, thankfully, both buildings were unoccupied. The Interim CEO of the local Boy Scouts of America was promptly informed about the incident. He confirmed that no one was scheduled to be on the property that evening.
The Fire is Under Investigation
In a press release about the incident, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says, "As a precautionary measure, a State Fire Marshal Investigator was called to the scene to investigate."
The firefighting efforts were a team effort, with assistance from the Canosia and Gnesen Fire Departments, as well as the St. Louis County Rescue Squad. Their swift action helped contain the fire and protect the surrounding area from further damage.
Scouts Gear Stolen in Another Incident
In an unrelated incident, another Scout troop in the Northland had an unfortunate incident happen to them last week when someone stole a trailer full of their scouting gear from a church parking lot in Superior. That incident is still under investigation and the scouts and the police are looking for any information about that theft.
