Stewartville, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was arrested Tuesday after he reportedly tried to break into a Stewartville home in broad daylight.

A 15-year-old girl who was home alone in the 2100 block of Sonke Ln NW called 911 around 12:30 PM after hearing someone trying to break into the attached garage.

The girl’s father had called authorities earlier in the day to report a man had threatened to assault him with a sledgehammer. Deputies arrived to find a sledgehammer near the garage service door.

They began looking for the suspected burglar and found him a few blocks away riding a skateboard. They also found he had two knives, a baseball bat, handcuffs, duct tape, and a boxcutter.

Arrested was 39-year-old Collin Johnson.

Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Behrns says Johnson had been harassing the homeowner through social media and said he was planning to come to his house and party. Johnson was apparently upset about a car he had purchased from the victim.

The investigation into the reported threat and harrassment continues.
