Stormy Weather Hits Southeast Minnesota
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The big storm that moved out of the Rockies Wednesday produced some tornadoes in parts of Iowa, including one in Des Moines.
Minnesota was hit by strong winds, including gusts of nearly 50 miles per hour in Rochester.
Rain was also reported across southeast Minnesota, with totals ranging from a third of an inch in parts of Fillmore County to nearly 2 inches in Dodge and Wabasha counties.Totals in Olmsted County ranged from three-quarters of an inch at St. Mary’s Hospital to 1.7 inches in Byron. The storm total at the Rochester airport was nearly 1.2 inches, which was almost equaled the amount of rain the area received during the entire month of October.
It will remain windy and chilly through Friday but warmer air is expected for the weekend.
Residents in northeastern Minnesota are digging out their shovels and snowblowers. A winter storm is expected to hit the Arrowhead region Thursday night and it could dump two to five inches of snow by Friday morning.
