Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A 35-year-old Rochester man was arrested Friday night and is expected to be charged in connection with a shooting in downtown Rochester.

A Police Department spokesman says officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of East Center Street just before 10:30 p.m. and found several shell casings in the area of the Center Street Hotel. They also found bullet holes in two rooms at the hotel and additional damage from gunfire in the First Street Parking Ramp.

About 20 minutes after police received reports of the shooting, officers were called to the emergency room at St. Mary’s Hospital where a 36-year-old man had come in with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police quickly determined he had been wounded in the shooting on East Center Street and that he was able to identify the shooter, which led to the arrest of the suspect a short time later.

He’s being held in the Olmsted County Jail and is expected to be charged on Monday. The shooting victim was treated and released.
