“The Most Popular Thanksgiving Recipe by State” Is Fake News

I see a nice headline like, "The Most Popular Thanksgiving Recipe by State" and I click. It has to be green bean casserole, right? That's hugely popular around here and almost everyone uses the recipe their mom had, which came from the back of a can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup.

With some variations that has to be the most popular Thanksgiving Recipe in Minnesota. But it's not. Salad is.

Salad?

Yep. SALAD!

Then I read more...it's not each state's most popular recipe...it's the most SEARCHED recipe. That's a totally different thing. It tells us the recipes people don't know by heart. And while Minnesotans are a health loving bunch, it's not like we're . Thanksgiving requires a fancy salad, so yeah, of course we Google it.
