A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday to celebrate the completion of the new Mayowood Bridge over the Zumbro River in southwest Rochester.

The $3.5 million project was started in January and replaced an 80-year-old span that was closed to traffic in 2006 after it was found to be structurally deficient.  Repairs were also made to the historic Mayowood Dam, which provides the foundation for the bridge.
