The Twins Just Set Another Major League Baseball Record

The Minnesota Twins unbelievable season continued Tuesday night at Target Field when Miguel Sano helped the team set an incredible new major league baseball record.

The Twins have been AMAZING this season, haven't they? Except for a few days in August, they've pretty much been in first place the entire season. And, as the line in 'We're Gonna Win Twins' says, they've been smashing the cover off the ball too.

That was the case Tuesday night at Target Field, when Miguel Sano smacked a towering three-run homer to left-center field in the third inning. That gave him 30 home runs on the season-- so far. And it also helped the Twins set a new major league record of having five different players who've all knocked 30 homers in a single season.

With that shot Tuesday night, Sano joined Nelson Cruz, Max Kepler, Mitch Garver and Eddie Rosario, who have also hit 30 home runs so far this season. And, according to this MLB.com story, that's a new record. The next-closed team to accomplish such a feat was the Philadelphia Phillies, who had four different hitters knock in 30 homers in a single season, back in 2009.

And, Sano's round-tripper was close to setting ANOTHER record too-- for the longest home run at Target Field. MLB.com says Sano's homer was projected to have gone 482 feet, making it the second-longest in Target Field history. Only Jim Thome's home run in July of 2011 (that went a projected 490 feet) was longer. Go Twins!
