It might not be on our license plates like our neighbors to the east, but Minnesota knows it's dairy. The Cheese Cave in Faribault was recently named as a top-7 spot in Minnesota to stop on what they dubbed a "cheese pilgrimage". Not only was it named to that list, but it was also featured in the Star Tribune's 5 Hottest Small Town Destinations when Faribault was listed. Besides The Cheese Cave locally, where else can you have a 'Muenster' good time with cheese?

We will start from the closest location and work outward Hastings Dairy Store also made the list as far as enjoying some great cheese and other dairy products. According to its website, the company has been around over 100 years and was 'founded in 1913 as a butter manufacturer.' Sounds oddly familiar to our friends to the south at the Hope Creamery... Another great local option for some great cheese, Sheperd's Way Farms in Nerstrand, I've heard good things about it so far, just haven't been able to sample any.

There are a bunch of cheese shops in the Twin Cities area on the top-7 list I found were, France 44 Cheese ShopNelson Cheese & DeliSurdyk's Liquor & Cheese Shop, and Lake Wine & Spirits.

The last place on your 'cheese pilgrimage' as calls it is WAY up north, but must be worth the drive. Redhead Creamery in Brooten Minnesota was dubbed as 'one of the most fun day trips in the entire state.' They even offer you tours of the site Fridays and Saturdays for $10.

Did I miss a must try cheese store in the area? Let me know in the comments!
