This Nostalgic Drive-In Theater is just a Short Drive From Rochester

I take my husband and kiddo to this drive-in at least once a year. You won't believe how cheap AND fun it is!

They show three movies for the price of one. The first movie starts at dawn, and the other two follow. Typically they start with a kid/family friendly movie, and get a little more risky as the nights go on, and the kids start dozing off. How much is it? Only $8.50 for an adult, $1 for kids ages 6-12 and kids under 5 are free!

The theater is called Vali-Hi Drive-In, and it's just over an hour away in Lake Elmo. They sell food, have an old picture booth and vintage games. They also have a huge spot by the screen that kids toss a football, play bags and run around. It's such a cool place - it'll make you feel like you took a step back in time.

I have yet to be here, but there is one a tad closer to Rochester. Elko Speedway is just outside of Minnepolis. They show one movie a night for $8. They have other events as well as the movies.

Spring Valley opened their drive-in theater for the first time in nearly 30 years for an event. They had the movie Grease playing on the side of the truck, along with an old fashioned car show earlier in the day. The event was so successful, they already have a date for round two. I wish they would open a permanent theater again!!
