Imagine working the first 65 years of your life, saving up for your dream retirement, and once you achieve that dream it all goes wrong. That's how a retired Faribault couple feels about their retirement property in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Karl and Suzanne Von Rump bought a cabin in South Dakota only to have a 'compound' built next to them when a mysterious religious group moved in and began clearing land on the 140 acres next door.

KARE-11 recently interviewed the retired couple in relation to a story they were working on in regards to as KARE-11 states 'one of the leaders of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS)', Seth S. Jeffs.

In the interview with the news station, Karl stated that he doesn't think that the couple could sell their cabin and property. The Von Rumps said that in 2003 the religious group FLDS moved onto the 140 acres next to them and started clearing the land. According to the Von Rumps in the interview where there was once herds of elk, there's now earthen berms, barbed wire fences, and the looming green watchtower.

What goes on behind the walls of the compound remains a mystery to many, but members of the religion in the past have been convicted of crimes against children. In the mid-2000s when their self-proclaimed prophet Warren Jeffs wound up on the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted List when he fled after being indicted for child sex abuse.

Warren Jeffs was sentenced in 2011 to life in prison plus 20 years after being convicted of sexual assault involving two girls, ages 12 and 15, which he took as wives. It's been claimed by some that he is still be leading the group from behind bars.
