Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - At least three teenagers lost their lives in separate crashes yesterday in Minnesota.

One of the deadly incidents occurred on I-90 in Winona County just before 4 PM. The State Patrol is reporting that a 16-year-old boy was fatally injured when he lost control of the pickup truck he was driving and it rolled in the median about a mile east of the Winona exit at the Highway 43 interchange. His passenger, a 13-year-old boy from Racine Wisconsin, was not injured. The name of the victim has not been released.

The State Patrol also responded to a fatal crash in Dakota County about 20 minutes later. The crash report says 17-year-old Angely Burgos-Salas was a passenger in a pickup that slid out of control on a snow and ice-covered section of Highway 55 in Eagan and rolled into the median. The teenage girl was ejected from the pickup during the crash. The driver, 57-year-old Virginio Burgos of Minneapolis, and two other passengers were not injured.

The other teenage fatality was reported by the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. Officials say the body of 19-year-old Dashon Rodriguez was recovered from inside his vehicle after it was located at about 11 feet of water in the Mississippi River early Sunday morning. A news release says the young man was driving at a high rate of speed when he failed to navigate a sharp curve on a rural road and his vehicle went down an embankment into the river around 1:30 a.m. A 22-year-old man in the vehicle was able to swim to safety and went to a nearby home requesting help. The news release says investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
