St Paul, MN (KROC AM News) - Those attending the Minnesota State Fair this year will notice tighter security.

The fair has announced it has expanded its security program to include bag checks at all of its eleven entry gates. This will include bags, coolers, packages and purses.

The fair has also made adjustments to its security staffing levels, vehicle access, traffic management and video.

The fair says the security plan was developed in conjunction with local, state and federal public safety agencies.

The fair greatly expanded its security systems in 2002. Since then, it has annually made adjustments to its security systems and added new public safety features.

The fair begins next Thursday and will run through Labor Day.
