Minnesota Now One of the Top States For Animal Collisions
I love getting texts from my mom. But the latest one I got wasn't good news. And because it was a Boomer that was sending the message, I got the photo below first. Nothing else. Just the photo of her car all messed up.
5 minutes later, I got the explanation. (We have never discussed the extra "g" that was included...it was just an added bonus.)
Her blinker was gone. A piece of the vehicle was rubbing on the tire and flapping. For fun, I guess, she sent me a few more photos of the engine parts that were exposed and asked me if I knew what they were.
For a moment, I wondered if she remembered who she was talking to. I'm the daughter that would call from college when I had a flat tire. That might sound like a once in a while thing but my tire valve had a leak and it went flat every week. EVERY WEEK! I've also never opened the hood of my car and I don't plan to, ever. Why would I know what the car parts are on HER car?!
I told her it was antifreeze. Zero clue but I've heard that is in the engine area. Plus, she's not the one fixing it so I'm sure some expert is going to have the right answer.
I did zoom in and pointed out the hair embedded into her grill and the blood spots. THAT I can identify thanks to all of the crime drama I watch on Netflix. Engine parts though, NOT my specialty.
What Are The Odds Of Hitting An Animal in Minnesota?
No one wants to hit an animal and cause damage to their vehicle. It can be traumatizing and also expensive. Example: The car repairs for my mom's car in the photo cost over $10,000. Based on a report by AAA, the cost of repairs for an accident caused by a deer has been increasing the past few years.
Hopefully, you never have to experience an accident due to an animal but depending on where you live, the odds may not be in your favor. And if you've picked Minnesota or Iowa as your home, you might want to check on your insurance policy because the odds are against you.

What Animal Is Hit The Most By Vehicles?
This probably isn't a shock, but according to State Farm, deer are the animals that are hit the most by a motor vehicle.
