Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News) - The severe storms that affected southern Minnesota this afternoon produced at least one tornado.
The National Weather Service is reporting an EF1 tornado just south of the town of Lemond about 5 miles southwest of Owatonna around 4:30 PM. Minutes later, there was another report of a tornado touchdown in a cornfield near Ellendale. At this point, it’s unclear if it was the same tornado or if a second twister developed from the storm system. There were also reports of funnel clouds in the Mankato area and north of New Ulm.
The severe storms produced numerous incidents of large hail across southern Minnesota. 1.25-inch diameter hail was reported in Mower County at Rose Creek, while nearly 2-inch hail fell near southwest of Owatonna and near Mankato at Madison Lake.
