Trial Date Set For Rochester Shooting Suspect
Rochester , MN (KROC AM News) - - One of the men charged in a high-profile shooting case in Rochester last month has pled not guilty today to three different charges.
Abdulkadir Abukar pleaded not guilty to one count of second degree attempted murder, one count of dangerous weapons and one count second degree assault. Abukar is accused of firing guns at a man’s car while the man was trying to get away from them while driving near the North Broadway McDonald’s restaurant.
One of the other men charged in the case, 29-year-old Kaisar Nur, survived after being shot in the back of the head several years ago, although he did lose an eye. Nur was also sentenced to nine years behind bars in 2009 for two violent crimes, including an attempted murder case.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a third man in the Rochester shooting case. Attempted murder and other charges have been filed against 25-year-old Abdirahman Abdullahi.
Abukar’s date for pretrial is set for September 21st, while the jury trial is set for September 25th.
