Two Fires Reported In Olmsted County Wednesday

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is reporting two fires that broke out Wednesday on opposite ends of the county.

The first was reported around 7:30 AM near Chatfield.

A man living in a rural home at 9927 County Rd 136 spotted his detached garage was in flames. The building was apparently destroyed. It’s suspected a wood-burning stove in the garage that had been used the day before may have started the fire.

The other fire was reported around 5:30 PM at Oronoco Estates.

A mobile home at Lot #27 was engulfed when firefighters arrived. A man who had been living there was outside and said he had left a space heater running in a rear room. A spokesman says the home was apparently wiped out.
