Do you remember the original “Disco Demolition” 35 years ago?  It’s where a savvy promoter had the idea to blow up a ton of disco records between games of a double-header at Comiskey Field in Chicago.  The playing field was so damaged from the explosion and rowdy fans that the White Sox had to forfeit the second game.

Well the man behind that event is planning another.  Mike Veeck, owner of the St. Paul Saints and Charleston RiverDogs is planning a “Disco Demolition 2: You Better Belieb It” event this Saturday in Charleston, SC.  But instead of disco, his focus will be on Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.  Admission is only a dollar plus attendees must bring a Bieber or Cyrus CD or item to “blow up” at the game.  Hopefully the field stays intact.

Always thinking ‘outside the box’, Veeck says he has another odd promotion planned for later this summer to honor his late father.  He’s going to have a “Bill Veeck Bobble-Leg Giveaway”.  His dad owned the White Sox during the time of the infamous “Disco Demolition” and had a fake leg.   (Something tells me his dad would be proud).
