Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - A man was shot in the leg Wednesday night inside his northwest Rochester residence and at last report, police were still looking for the shooter. And police also now say it was a drug-related home invasion.

Police Captain John Sherwin says the victim’s fiancee called 911 around 6 p.m. to report an intruder at a residence located in the 3800 block of 14th Ave NW, just west of Gage School. Officers arrived and found the shooter was gone - and they also found a marijuana grow operation in the basement. Police were expected to execute a search warrant of the home today.

Sherwin says the intruder shot the victim in the kneecap. The victim’s fiancee and their three young children were in another part of the house at the time. The victim then gave the man some marijuana and he left. Sherwin says the injury to the 30 year old victim was non-life threatening and he was taken to St Mary’s for treatment.

Sherwin says the victim did not recognize the man but the intruder apparently knew about the marijuana operation because after entering the home he told the victim - “ give me the weed. “
