Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It’s been a busy week for Rochester police investigators.

Since last Saturday, they have responded to two shootings, an armed robbery and now two stabbings. They occurred within a few hours of each other Thursday afternoon.

The first was reported around 4:30 in the 1400 block of West Center Street near the Miracle Mile Shopping Center. Officers arrived to find a 29 year old man on the ground outside the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper body and chest.  A 16 year old was taken into custody. Police Lieutenant Jim Evenson says the teenager’s 21 year old sister is married to the victim and the teen intervened when those two began fighting. Evenson say the man then began hitting the teenager and that’s when he was stabbed with a paring knife. The teenager was later released from custody.

Police were informed of the other stabbing at 6:45 when a 40 year old man was dropped off at the St Mary’s ER. The Rochester man - who was unresponsive - had also been stabbed multiple times in the chest and upper body and was initially described in very critical condition. That stabbing took place at a residence in the 100 block of 12th St NW, near the North Broadway McDonald’s restaurant. The person who drove the victim to St. Mary’s left after dropping him off at the entrance to the ER.  A 22 year old man was later arrested as a suspect in that case. Evenson says the suspect - Thane Robinson - is being held on attempted murder and felony assault charges. Evenson says the victim was stabbed after he got into an argument with Robinson.
