‘Upset’ Rochester Man Accused Of Punching Female Walmart Employee

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man is expected to face a felony assault charge for punching a Walmart store employee because he was not able to cash a check.
Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the incident happened at the south Walmart store Sunday evening.
Moilanen says the man went to the store’s customer service area and after finding no one there, asked a 53-year-old female employee “what was going on.”
When the worker told the man there was no one available to staff the service area, he became upset. Moilanen says the man then punched the woman in the face, knocking her into a clothing rack. She then lost her balance and fell to the floor, striking her head. She was taken to the hospital where she treated for her injuries and received stitches.
The man fled but was eventually identified as 30-year-old Denard Ellis. He was located Tuesday afternoon and taken into custody.
