A new survey has just come up with the model cars and trucks most likely to be stolen here in Minnesota. Did your car make the list?

Certain crimes, like carjackings and auto thefts, have been increasing not only here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes but across the country. And now a new list has run down just which cars are most likely to be stolen.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) recently released its annual Hot Wheels report that identifies the top 10 most stolen vehicles in the United States. And once again, the report said that the Ford full-size pick-up (F-150) was the model most targeted by thieves, followed by the Chevrolet full-size pick-up. The Honda Civic, Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry rounded out the top five most-stolen cars in the US last year.

But what about here in the North Star State? Which vehicles are the most stolen here in our neck of the woods? Well, according to the NICB report, if you're driving Honda Civic, you'll probably want to make sure you keep it locked up tight because it is the model vehicle stolen the most here in Minnesota.

The Honda CR-V is the second most-stolen vehicle here in Bold North, according to the NICB survey, followed by the Chevrolet full-size pickup, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The Ford F-150, which was the most popular car in Minnesota last year, came in at #6 on the survey.

Here's the full NICB list of the Most Stolen Vehicles in Minnesota

  • 2000 Honda Civic (660 thefts)
  • 2000 Honda CR-V (587 thefts)
  • 2003/1999 Chevrolet Full Size Pick-Up (524 thefts)
  • 1997 Honda Accord (489 thefts)
  • 2009/2007 Toyota Camry (469 thefts)
  • 2003 Ford Full Size Pick-Up (465 thefts)
  • 2008 Chevrolet Impala (309 thefts)
  • 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee (280 thefts)
  • 2010 Toyota Corolla (253 thefts)
  • 2010 Chevrolet Malibu (242 thefts)

The easiest way thieves steal vehicles here in Minnesota, police say, is when we leave them unlocked and running... with the keys or fobs in them. (Which is actually illegal to do in most parts of Minnesota, even in the winter.)

Having your car stolen would definitely be annoying-- if not infuriating-- and is probably way worse than the following annoying things about southeast Minnesota. Keep scrolling to check them out!
