Starting This Month You’ll Pay More To Shop At Minnesota Walmarts

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer with more than 10,000 stores including 68 in Minnesota, is making headlines again today. This comes just one day after it announced a new service fee.

Yesterday, we reported a new "basket fee" Walmart+ Assist customers are being charged for pick up and delivery orders under $35. People aren't happy about that new fee, and certainly won't be happy about today's news.

Walmart finished last in a ranking of customer satisfaction of American grocery chains, but people still shop there because it's convenient and cheaper than a lot of other places. Unfortunately, shoppers will soon be paying more to visit the big blue box store.

Why Going To Walmart in Minnesota Is About to Get More Expensive

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon made the announcement on an earnings call and his comments were published by CNN: ”We will do our best to keep our prices as low as possible. But given the magnitude of the tariffs, even at the reduced levels announced this week, we aren’t able to absorb all the pressure given the reality of narrow retail margins. The higher tariffs will result in higher prices.”

Customers will start to see prices go up by the end of May.
