Officials say Waseca Solid Waste and Recycling located off of Highway 13 was destroyed by a fire Wednesday morning. The fire was first reported at 7:18 a.m., shortly after employees had arrived for their shifts. Everyone was safely evacuated from the recycling center and no injuries were reported.

Fire crews were on the scene until late into the evening monitoring the remaining structures and investigating as to what may have started the fire.  Southern Minnesota News reported that Waseca County Administrator Jessica Beyer stated that 'the facility had been destroyed.' The remaining facility will be closed until further notice.

The Waseca Fire Department was assisted at the scene of the fire by the New Richland, Janesville, Ellendale, and Owatonna fire departments, the Waseca County Sheriff, and MnDOT.

The Waseca Fire Department and state fire marshal are currently investigating what may have the caused the fire.
