You Won’t Believe What Minnesotans Want For Their Final Meal
This is the kind of conversation that tends to pop up around a campfire after a few adult beverages, one where everyone might have a similar answer, especially if they're from Minnesota.
“What would be your last meal?” It’s a dark but oddly entertaining question that insurance company Choice Mutual recently explored. They surveyed people across the country to find out what residents in each state would choose as their final meal.

Classic Minnesota Foods Not on the List
Minnesota has plenty of signature dishes: tater tot hotdish, lutefisk, wild rice soup, cream cheese pickle wraps (aka “Minnesota sushi”), and of course, SPAM.
But interestingly, none of those local classics made the cut for the top choice in Minnesota, although I might sneak in a little Minnesota sushi as an appetizer.
What Minnesotans Would Actually Pick
According to the survey, most Minnesotans would go with steak as their last meal. That puts the state right in line with the rest of the country. Steak was the top overall choice across America, followed by potatoes, pasta, pizza, and vegetables rounding out the top five.

When it comes to a final drink, though, Minnesotans break from the national trend. While most Americans would sip a soda, specifically Coke, Minnesotans are reaching for a beer, making it the fifth-most popular final drink overall.
Who’s Cooking?
As for who people want making this final meal? Most say it doesn’t really matter, just as long as it tastes good. Others say they’d prefer a loved one to prepare it. And a little over 15% said they’d want a celebrity chef like Gordon Ramsay to handle it.
Next time you're hanging out and looking for a conversation starter, throw this one out there. You might be surprised what people say. Is wanting KFC as a last meal really that weird?
