Thief River Falls, MN (KROC-AM News) - A young boy was killed this morning in northwestern Minnesota while trying to catch his school bus.

The State Patrol says 7-year-old Anthony Fellman died after he was struck by a minivan shortly after 7 AM. Officials say the child was hit while he was attempting to cross Highway 59 near his home about four miles south of Thief River Falls.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the boy was identified as a 69-year-old woman from the town of Plummer.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Department is assisting the State Patrol in the investigation.

Authorities in central Minnesota are investigating the death of a bicyclist. The Benton County Sheriff’s Department says a 61-year-old man was riding a bike under a bridge near Sauk Rapids Wednesday night when he fell off onto the roadway and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 64-year-old St. Cloud resident.

Officials say they are working to determine if the bicyclist suffered some sort of medical emergency.

His name, and the name of the motorist have not been released.
