Heartbreaking News Announced By Zollman Zoo in Southeast Minnesota

One of the top spots for families to enjoy in Southeast Minnesota is Zollman Zoo.  Being connected to Oxbow Park, this area has multiple trails for hiking, a great outdoor education and play area, camping, and so many great animals that you can see up close.  It is also just a short drive from Rochester and is located in Byron, Minnesota at 5731 County Rd 105 NW (Get Directions).

If you are a regular at Zollman Zoo, you may have already noticed that one of its more social animals has been missing in action.  According to the Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo Facebook page, it appears that the 15-year-old bull elk has sadly passed away.

We have unfortunate news today, the 15 year old bull elk was put down yesterday because of a quick turn in his quality of life. We had been monitoring him closely because of his age, and felt this was the best decision.

We have a young bull offspring that will remain with this herd.
