It may be nearly the end of July, but the 'MAY' flies are swarming just to our east. This radar image is from Sunday night and shows the massive amount of mayflies as they emerged from the Mississippi river. This phenomenon is not new, as it happens just about every year, still, think about how amazing it is that those bugs are so thick and the infestation so massive it can be detected on a radar screen.
The Olmsted County Fair is ON until July 27th. I haven't had a chance to get out to the Olmsted fair yet, but I plan to this weekend. It got started this year during a really hot time. By the time I get there it won't be quite as hot and sticky, knock on wood. It's shaping up to be a perfect weekend weather-wise. Who is going yet?
Ah yes, Rochester's Corn Cob. It's pretty neat, and as far as I know, we are one of the only places, if not the only place that has one. The Corn Cob Water tower is part of the old Libby Foods facility, now Seneca Foods and serves not only as a conversation piece but a landmark.
Selfies are everywhere these days! A company is offering you the ability to put your image on toast. You could technically put anything you want on your toast. It's a tad spendy however, would you pay $ 75 for an image of yourself in your toast? I wonder if these end up on Ebay what the cost would be?
You are about to. This guy can pour a beer by using his head. This is where you insert the comment, 'It takes all kinds.' The man was visiting a brewery when the people there witnessed his skill and decided to add it to their video collection, and now we all can be entertained.
Byron has sure grown since I have lived here. I grew up in Byron, out in the country, and back then it was just a tiny little town. It was a big deal to hop on my bike and head into town for some ice cream at DQ, which is still there! I remember having some good neighbors when I lived in Byron. I suppose it still is quite small, compared to Rochester, but, it is far larger than it used to be!
This ought to be interesting, eh? Cappuccino is not the only new kind of potato chip flavor coming down the pike. They may be for a limited time however, because they will be voted upon and chosen by people to determine which one makes the cut.
Well this guy certainly takes puppets to another level. Watch a captivating video from this multi-talented street artist/puppeteer/musician/crafty/creative entertainer named Ricky Syers. He does shows locally in parks and has become an internet sensation with his hobby. If you have not yet seen his performance, here is a video that I personally guarantee will put a smile on your face!
