Take A Kid Outdoors was incorporated in 2013. We began our organization in 2012 with the planning of our first event "Take A Kid Ice Fishing". This event was held at Chester Woods park, Eyota/Rochester Minnesota, on February 16th 2013. We are proud of the success we had with this event, bring over 600 participants together on the ice, many having never ice fished before. We have used this success to help find sponsors and volunteers for our growing organization.

Our mission is to facilitate activities and events for youth in our community that may not have the chance to enjoy certain outdoor activities. We focus on providing events that allow youth to participate while teaching the adults about the activities we sponsor. This not only gives the youth a unique opportunity but it also helps build the possibility that their families will continue taking them to healthy outdoor activities. We strive to make our events free. We provide equipment and resources at our events, through donations and sponsorships from local and national companies.

Take A Kid Outdoors is also focused on putting together unique opportunities for special needs Children and families. We will hold individual events and programs for organizations that may not have the knowledge or resources to provide specific outdoor activities. In 2013 a major undertaking was to build a "Ronald McDonald Ice House". This amazing House will allow us to take individual groups or families on short fishing trips to our local waters. This house is a collaboration of several local and national companies. It was built to be a winter ice fishing house but also a base camp for camping events in the summer. The house is wheel chair accessible, forced air heated by a 20,000 BTU furnace, has 4 sleeping beds, oven, stove, 32" LED TV, bathroom and 8 fishing holes. This house also serves as a billboard for our organization, the Ronald McDonald house and all of the wonderful sponsors that make all of our events possible.

We will continue to add events as our organization grows. In 2014 we plan to add events such as "Take A Kid Camping", "Take A Kid Canoeing" and other great outdoor programs.
