The Svyati Duo will be performing in Rochester, MN at the Church of St. John the Evangelist on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 4:00 pm.
The duo is made up of cellist Rebecca Hewes and organist Julian Collings, the only regular cello and organ duo in the United Kingdom. They have gained an outstanding reputation for their innovative concerts.
This seldom heard instrumental combination has been heard in venues across the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and the United States. The duo maintains a diverse and exciting repertoire, ranging from baroque sonatas through substantial romantic and contemporary works.
Rebecca Hewes, who trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, has performed widely throughout the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, South Africa, and North America as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Her organist colleague, Julian Collings, graduated from Cambridge University and presently plays the organ at St. Augustine’s Church in Kensington. He is also assistant organist at St. Bride’s, Fleet Street, and director of two London-based choral groups. As a soloist, accompanist, or member of the Svyati Duo, he has been heard on BBC Radio, and has performed extensively throughout the UK, Europe, and the US. The Svyati Duo’s eponymous CD, released last year, has earned glowing reviews both here and abroad. Svyati Duo's recordings on the Regent Records label are available through all major retailers
