Inmate Dies in Fillmore County

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been called to investigate the death of an inmate in the Fillmore County Jail.

Sheriff Tom Kaase reports the incident occurred just after 6:30 Wednesday afternoon.  Lifesaving efforts by Preston authorities and Mayo One were unsuccessful on the inmate, whose name has not been released.  Kaase says there was no danger to the jail population or the public.  No other details have been released, including the cause of death.
