Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - An international food ingredient company has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing facility in Rochester.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced Tuesday that it has awarded a $175,000 grant from the state’s Job Creation Fund to assist The Kerry Group expand in Rochester.

Officials say the Ireland based firm is moving forward with an $18.1 million expansion of its plant along 7th Street Northwest, which is the first phase of a larger expansion project with an overall price tag of over $28 million. The company plans to build a 5300 square foot addition to house a new spray dryer and two 10,000 gallon dryer feed tanks.

Kerry currently employs about 100 people in Rochester. Worldwide, the firm has 23,000 employees at 100 manufacturing facilities.
