Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two area schools are dealing with threats of violence made by students.

Earlier today, Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose reported the arrest of a 17-year-old Triton High School Student who told some of his classmates and posted on Snapchat that they should not come to the school and Dodge Center today because he planned to harm people.

Sheriff Rose says authorities were alerted to the situation late last night and arrested the teenager after they located him at his family’s home and he admitted making the threatening statements. He also told the investigators the threats were not serious.

Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Red Wing Police Department this afternoon reported that it was notified yesterday morning of a possible threat of violence at the River Bluffs Education Center. Members of the staff notified their School Resource Officer that students reported hearing another student threatened to “shoot up” the school today. A news release says the School Resource Officer quickly identified the teenage boy and the school was placed on a modified lockdown while he was taken into custody.

The juvenile was taken to the Red Wing Law Enforcement Center for questioning and was arrested for suspicion of felony threats of violence. He is now being held at the Minnesota Juvenile Correctional Facility in Red Wing.

Because both students are juveniles, their names and other identifying information are not being released.
